King County executive candidate Susan Hutchison should release court documents

Susan Hutchison, candidate for King County executive, sued her former employer KIRO-TV for discrimination. But most of the documents in the case were sealed. It's time to open up the files.

Her lawyer said Wednesday he would fight release of records all the way to the state Supreme Court. Why?

By their secrecy, Hutchison and her lawyer, Jon Rosen, make the records far more interesting.

Hutchison, through her lawyer, says she supports open records but not when it comes to intruding into the privacy of an individual who availed themselves of the court. That sounds too much like she supports open records — just not her records. Full Story »

The local paper calls out secrecy and hypocrisy on a leading local candidate for an office that has been a stepping stone to state political power. A good use of editorial powers for an informed democracy.
