Washington state suspends 2012 presidential primary

The caucus system vs general public voting pros and cons are not very fully discussed.

Caucuses tend to invite the more informed and the more partisan. General balloting tends to bring in the lightly informed and those influenced by advertizing, as well as the independent voters. General balloting does invite more public participation in government, and allows more visibility for any third party or forth party platforms. This whole question in Washington state is precipitated by the anti-any-tax idiocracy that has infected the politics.
