Obama's Five Worst Nominees

On Barack Obama's first day in the White House, he introduced the toughest ethics rules of any recent president -- rules he promised would "close the revolving door" between government and the corporate world. Maybe he should have invested in a really good dead bolt. One year into the administration, Obama?s picks for some key oversight posts are dogged by eerily familiar conflicts of interest. More of a showcase of work Mother Jones has already done than a new and original piece. The descriptions of the nominees themselves are cursory, but they link to good Mother Jones articles from the past few months in which each individual is a key player. Recommended.

Informative article about five nominees for key posts in the Obama Administration - with strong ties to the industries they would be asked to regulate. Though this is a brief overview, it links to earlier articles about each candidate. More importantly, it makes a undeniable point that Obama's ethics rules against such conflicts of interest have considerably relaxed in just a year.

It is sad that politics has become another sporting venue that permits people to scream from the stadium without accountability. That being said - the administration has appeared to have a huge struggle that I feel falls on the head of Rahm Emmanuel. Short, but horrible formatting on the web. The bad nominees are so numerous that the article could be much longer and have more depth. Not much is said on why he picked them. Perhaps balance would call for naming the good nominees.

The system is corrupt, and Obama is working inside the system. Corrupt politicians will not ban corruption. New candidates are needed in all the primaries in both parties. Election campaigns must be publicly financed.
