This is a great scoop, the kind for which you have to hang out in back alleys on 35th street at odd hours. It's also a despicable practice that this and other companies are perpetrating, destroying unworn clothes in a city of poor, cold people. I'm glad Dwyer's airing this story out. The H&M PR department probably needs a new order of stress balls today.

This is just a despicable practice. I'm glad that the Information Age will guarantee that everybody knows about this soon.

While egregious, this is a half-reported piece. It's not clear what H & M's corporate policy is on this issue, or whether the NY store's case is isolate. Put in perspective, there's MUCH MUCH more wasted food thrown out everyday that could hypothetically be used to feed hungry Americans.

Informative report about destroyed clothing found in the trash of H & M and Wal-Mart stores in New York City. While this short report could use a few more sources, and comments from store managers, it provides enough factual evidence to suggest that unworn goods are being purposely damaged by store personnel before being discarded. Look forward to hearing more about this disturbing practice.
