Reid says budget talks stymied by GOP policy provisions

Congressional negotiators working through the night failed to reach an agreement to fund the federal government for the remainder of the year as their talks foundered over two Republican policy provisions on abortion and the environment, increasing the likelihood of a government shutdown beginning this weekend, Senate Majority Leader Harry M. This amounts to a Democratic National Committee press release and thus has modest journalistic merit. Almost all of the quotes are of Democrats. Nowhere is it stated that the fault for the current situation is entirely that of Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi, who should have passed the Appropriations bills 8 months ago. That fact is left out by the DNC staffer who wrote this, as is the fact that it is a "partial shutdown of selected functions of certain parts of the Federal government" that might happen. Most functions will continue without any lapse.
