Posted by Rory O'ConnorVery powerful call to action for all those people in government who might know something about the hidden agenda for the war in Iraq to come forward with their information... even more powerful since it comes from the man who did exactly this 35 years ago this week, and greatly altered our view on the Vietnam War.
Daniel Ellsberg took truth and democracy so seriously he broke the law to uphold them and expose the truth behind Viet Nam. In this spirit, he urges someone with access to do the same thing today regarding Iraq. His passion is evident in this piece, and the way he relates Viet Nam to Iraq are compelling and humane.
A well-written call for action by someone who had the courage to act in another time and place, without regard for his own future.
This is mostly speculation on the part of the author. He has good reason to surmise what he surmises, but there's no factual content of the existence of Iraq Pentagon Papers. He bases his opinion merely on the fact of the existence of Vietnam's Pentagon Papers. He's persuasive in his argument, but he provides no evidence.
An impassioned plea by a past Vietnam-ea whistleblower for modern-day counterparts to play a similar role today vis-a-vis the war in Iraq.
