Nearly all my professors are Democrats. Isn't that a problem?

After reading the article, the article refenced and ALL the published responses, not only did I find this article very misleading, lacking in basic precepts, and poorly researched, (reasearch is measured in quality not quantity) but if this person intends to continue on in journalism (currently a student), he needs to develope a thicker skin.

To define people by only how they are register to vote, is a poor evaluation of their positions on issues and ideology.

No. It is the same nonsense journalism, crying liberal bias.

If conservatives bothered to look at the traits of academics, they would find rational explanations for liberals in academia. Academics are more open-minded, and essentially more intelligent, and in both cases much more so than average America. Generally, and very much so among those of liberal parentage, IQ correlates positively with liberalness, overall about 0.3 to 0.4, and >0.5 for those from liberal homes. Perhaps this author should think more widely. The Republican Party has continued to decline as more and more moderate Republicans give up and leave the party. The Republican Party has continued to appeal to anti-intellectualism.

Why would a college professor stay in a party that does not like him or her?

A thought provoking piece, to say the least. I find myself agreeing intellectually but emotionally I guess I like the idea of a university as a hot bed of liberal thought!

Conservatives dominate tv and radio news, thanks to the Reagan era destruction of the rule that opposing views were entitled to equal time. Liberals have an enclave in academia where articles published in journals are peer reviewed for their factual basis and conservatives are demanding equal time based on their opinions, not their qualifications.
