Just a Bad, Bad Idea

(Blog Post) At the end of last week I couldn't help tweeting that everything I was seeing in Libya was bringing out my inner foreign policy Realist. And everything I've seen this weekend has confirmed me in that view. Indeed, there are so many reasons this strikes me as a bad idea I really hardly know where to start. A very thoughtfull analysis of the moral quandary our president faced. Is this a repeat of Kosovo; or the twelve year Iraq no-fly-zone we ended stuck with?

The president made the right call. By deminishing the immeadiacy of a slaugter; not committing to similarities elsewhere; and if neccessary, letting eventual politics change Qadafy's tune. That changed tune will be applicable to the other autocrats needing to make changes.
