The thing bothering me is why has our government–progressives and right wingers alike–ended up handing us only two viable options: saddle the middle class with cuts in entitlements; or cut budgets by firing the middle class? Both an anathema in precarious economic times like these. Everyone blithely ignores the abyss of Depression–upon which we still teeter–in a position which won’t take a Hell of a lot to tip us over. What happened to getting the sacred cows to pony up their fair share? The Too Rich? Corporations which pay less taxes than middle classers? The trillion-dollar military boondoggle? Or mercifully ending two gilt-edged wars we’ve managed to bobble into two gilt-edged losers? A shellacking my ass. It’s more like past time to take all politicians to the woodshed.
