This post discusses how much Alaska state money was lost and how big a constitutional mess was caused by Sarah Palin's unanticipated resignation. The writer knows Alaska politics but at times too easily lays the blame on Palin rather than her state's processes and frivolities. That said, there is good (if uneven) analysis on expenditures and political maneuvering. Worth a read.

I think Sarah Palin still scares the bejabbers out of liberal Democrats who underestimate her potential comeback, especially since the Obama administration is still largely running on Bush administration economic policies. If taxes are raised to offset the $ trilion budget, or inflation devastates households a la the Carter years--which I hope will not happen, of course--then Palin's star will rise anew.
