Boiling the Frog

It’s difficult to get people to do what it takes to head off a catastrophe foretold. And now, both the economic and the environmental frogs are sitting still while the water gets hotter.

Interesting metaphor for the current state of affairs. I think that Krugman is a little harsh on the Obama administration and Congressional leadership; they really have been quite busy legislating and governing on a number of fronts. That said, his criticisms are fair from the perspective of a concerned citizenry: more needs to be done. On the jobless recovery front: some more data or expert analysis would have been helpful. Given that less than 15% of the stimulus plan has been spent, I think it is difficult to, at this point, say that it is insufficient since it is just now starting to make its way into the private sector.
