Mars Melt Hints at Solar, Not Human, Cause for Warming, Scientist Says

Simultaneous warming on Earth and Mars suggests that our planet's recent climate changes have a natural--and not a human-induced--cause, according to one scientist's controversial theory.

Earth is currently experiencing rapid warming, which the vast majority of climate scientists says is due to humans pumping huge amounts of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. (Get an overview: "Global Warming Fast Facts".) Full Story »

This is a short superficial article describing a Russian scientist's contrarian theory on global warming and comments "debunking" it by US scientists. While the comments sound like there is probably some meat buried in there, even a non-expert like me deserves more rigor.

The story is brief and dry, but the issue is important. Any two scientists measuring the number of E. coli angels that fit on the point of a needle covered with a 2 mm film of Armour Star Lard will likely disagree within a 5% error reading. So it goes with the now popularly correct notion that excess CO2 in the atmosphere is responsible for the warming of our planet. Disagreement is at the base of science until something or another is proven and this bland article gives an alternate hypothesis which is worthy of note, if only that. Who knows? All of global warming theory is correlation.
