The Republican Shakedown

In the face of showdowns and shutdowns, the "you're right but you're going too far" response doesn't hack it. If Republicans are correct on principle, they're more likely to be seen as taking a strong principled stand than as going "too far." If they're basically correct that the problem is too much government spending why not go as far as possible to cut the bloat?

Even poor Americans have benefitted from the global success of an economic wave bought by automation. But at the end of any wave comes a bottom. R Reich hits the nail on the head. There needn't have been tax-cuts. In defence of Obama, who was fighting a losing battle; I think he was wise collecting the gains and letting the reality sink-in on the American psychy that had lost faith.
