Interview: Wendell Potter

And in the forward, Robert Kennedy said that one of the president's, one of his favorite quotes was a Dante quote that, "The hottest places in hell are reserved for those who, in times of moral crisis, maintain a neutrality." And when I read that, I said, "Oh, jeez, I-- you know. I'm headed for that hottest place in hell, unless I say something." Full Story »

There is no more important journalist in America than Bill Moyers. His "Journal" program is always an hour well spent. Few as compelling as this program, which puts the lie to the well coached "controversy" behind health care reform. It is only when a man such as Wendell Potter comes out, having retired from the game with all the money he'll ever need, and tells the truth - a rare window of clarity and a rare opportunity to see through the smoke of the debate - that we see democrats like Max Bauchus and all the republican shills as they really are: They are the bitches of the insurance industry.

The insurance industry needs to be removed from health care in this country. We have enough money to shower Wall Street with money even while they extort health care for obscene profits but we can't have a public option. You and I are slaves to the health care industry. I have the job I have because I need the benefits, not because it is a full and rich realization of what I wanted to do with my life. Imagine the benefit of a single payer system to small business across the country. Relived of having to pay through the nose to Cigna, bottom lines everywhere would expand... Just not at the top of the health care food-chain. In my view, any dollar spent on health care insurance as it is construed today is a wasted dollar. A single payer system is what's needed in this country, but sadly, the men and women who are crafting the "reform" are, like I stated in my notes above, insurance company bitches. It will be a miracle if "reform" is anything short of a new snow job on what's left of the middle class.
