At the National Press Club last night, White House spokesman Tony Snow sat down for a chat with what appeared to be some of his best friends -- our nation's elite "journalists" assigned to the White House -- and they all sat around amicably bemoaning how terribly unfair the criticism is that is directed at them by blogs (h/t Atrios). Once again we are treated to a solid, three-dimensional illustration of the "mainstream media" failing to even come close to meeting their journalistic responsibilities. That awful sound you hear emitting from the mouths of such intellectual marvels as Hannity, O'Riley and Limbaugh is the collective death rattle of the Fourth Estate, and no medium is innocent. Mr. Wolffe is a prime example ... he not only loves his own substanceless prose, but seems to adore the sound of his own voice, as well, as often as we see him waxing neo-political on MSNBC.
