I found this article about NewsTrust Baltimore to be accurate and thoughtful, with helpful context about this project and its news literacy mission.

I haven't read any articles from Neiman Journalism Lab so I chose "No" to the trust question. Otherwise, I found the article a good reminder of the mission of NewsTrust and wished it could be expanded across the country. There is so much misinformation; when 90% of our media is conservative and only 10% progressive, there's no chance for alternative ways of thinking. And, thinking is the aim for NewsTrust.

Since starting a few weeks ago, NewsTrust Baltimore has provided a new, expansive and interesting source of news for the community. It is good to see the story of the inception of NewsTrust Baltimore itself highlighted here.

I am having difficulty with this concept. I applaud the idea behind the effort, but I fail to understand how the NewsTrust effort supports the evolution of what is becoming the "new media". I would prefer a project that addresses the needs of the community in advancing its culture. Certainly good news reporting is a part of that, but for instance how do you address the recent report that says that people spend 60 seconds a day reading the news on their smart phones? The news reporting may be great, but unless journalists start examining the ecosystem that they have to work in and start figuring out how good journalism fits into that habitat, these very valid projects could turn out to be meaningless to the news consumer in the ...
