What will health reform mean for reproductive rights?

As the House and Senate produce and mark-up various health reform plans, reproductive health care is emerging -- surprise, surprise -- as a political football. This issue is about the most important of all, as it is an issue the Right will try to use for its agenda.

Everyone should pass their feeling on this issue to their congressman. It will be a crime if this agenda is lettered into the fine print of the law. I admit I never thought of it, did you?

It looks as though both the Senate and House leadership are willing to hand the Health and Human Services secretary — currently the pro-choice Kathleen Sebelius — ultimate discretion over these questions of what will and won’t be covered by plans that participate in the health exchanges. Earlier proposals to leave those decisions up to an independent council of medical experts have been scuttled.

It is very important that this holds. I for one plan to contact my Senators & House member to show my view- I would suggest you too do so.
