I haven't played with Yahoo! Pipes (disclosure) but I've written personal mashups and things that work like pipes. The piece does a pretty good job, if slanted towards the technical crowd, of explaining what the product is all about. It's not likely anyone but techies will play with Pipes for a while until some useful examples emerge that are easy for real people to tweak. This somewhat breathless and definitely enthusiastic piece points interested geeks at a potentially interesting (and potentially uninteresting) tool. Try Dave Winer's comments (linked) for maybe why, in the long run, uninteresting (or not as Yahoo can do some things as he notes).
