4 Reasons Why the MSM Botched the Tuscon Massacre, and Why they Owe the Victims and Sarah Palin an Apology

Does anyone remember James Lee, the mentally unstable man who took hostages at the Discovery Channel headquarters and was eventually shot by the police? Lee claimed that he was motivated by Al Gore’s movie, An Inconvenient Truth. You didn’t see conservatives blaming Al Gore for that insane act, did you? Long, rambling, defensive, and inaccurate (he gets the number shot wrong, right up front, and goes on from there)--this piece has little journalistic merit and less credibility. I watch MSNBC, and they didn't say many of the things he claims. Nobody I saw blamed Palin or conservatives for the shooting. Rather, they questioned whether our political speech has become too polarized. Keith Olberman, one of the worst examples of this, even offered to tone it down. This news analysis is excellent journalism. The author has written an in-depth analysis of the reaction of the media to the shootings in Tucson. She explains how the media got off track in promoting analyses of the event that had no basis in fact. More than 60 links are provided to a range of media, with the NY Times, WaPo, Boston Globe, ABC News and others, including a number of blogs. Lengthy and highly relevant quotes are included from the leading moderate voices at the Times and Post. There are a few misspellings, but otherwise this long article is very well written.
