This is a concise but comprehensive report on the flooding. It's more broad than deep, but it combines a few illustrative anecdotes with some analysis of the political and economic effects of the disaster.

Until the link does not direct to a nytimes site that says article does not exist I cannot truly judge this article....The link needs to be changed.
