The new Medicare prescription-drug program has reduced consumer drug prices and premiums by an estimated $13 billion and is projected to expand those savings to an impressive $180 billion during the next 10 years.

More than 90 percent of American seniors are enrolled and average $1,100 per year in savings. An overwhelming majority -- 80 percent -- like the program, according to several opinion surveys.
