Spending 102 billion a year on 800 worldwide military bases is bankrupting the country

The U.S. Empire of Bases -- at $102 billion a year already the world's costliest military enterprise -- just got a good deal more expensive. As a start, on May 27th, we learned that the State Department will build a new "embassy" in Islamabad, Pakistan, which at $736 million will be the second priciest ever constructed, only $4 million less, if cost overruns don't occur, than the Vatican-City-sized one the Bush administration put up in Baghdad. A clear concise summation of reports on U.S. spending in creating new bases around the world.

The U.S. is more imperial than ever, pushing it's way into nation after nation, in blatant disregard of the people of those countries, and forsaking our own economy in favor of war and military spending. This is proof that this is out of control. The Bush regime policies continue to proliferate unchecked and under the radar.

Idiot left wing ranting. In almost every case those bases are welcomed and w/o them the world would be very unstable. $102 billion is small change compared to other government expenses.
