The short quote from Vilsack provides evidence of the Obama administration abandoning science to garner votes from agribusiness areas, but one has to infer all that oneself from this short short quote. The linked article provides more context.

Corn ethanol creates more carbon dioxide that oil and gas does. Corn ethanol inflates food prices and consumes fertilizer and soil. The program is foolish.
