In spite of its dramatic headline, the article seems to give a credible and quite fair account of the discussion between civil liberties groups and the Obama administration. Many people probably do not get the information in this breadth elsewhere.

I do not expect that a real "fight" brews, and I take it as a good sign that talks like those described in the article take place in an obviously constructive atmosphere. I am still full of hope U.S. detention policies will move in a more liberal direction.
