Posted by Patricia BlochowiakA world free of nuclear weapons is something many have hoped for since the begining of the atomic age.
Having seen first hand the amount of damage a single device can cause, and the plams for their use, the end of nuclear weapons can not come soon enough, I fear that the next member of the bomb community will be Japan who already has fast breeder reactors and has been increasing her military in response to the China/Korean threats.
The information should be well known, but given the neocons attempts to rebuild nukes and apparent intent to reignite the nuclear cold war, the argument needs to be presented again and again. It is clearly and concisely presented here.
We should include nuclear power in this. When you include the cost of decomissioning nuclear plants, the cost of nuclear power can't compete with other forms of energy. Worst of all, we still have nuclear wastes above ground from the Manhatten project. We don't know what the cost of disposal will be since we haven't worked out how to do it.
