Interestingly, the data are representative of right-wing NO-NO Neocon talking points about issues which Washington NO-NOs are united in their opposition.

Note to NO-NOS: are you willing to take responsibility for the outcomes if the government should do all that you're recommending for America?

While taking its information from a number of sources, this article relies solely on the three most conservative national polls in the U.S.: Rasmussen, Gallup and NBC/WSJ, which hardly qualify as a "spate." It is indeed likely that President Obama's approval numbers are subject to negative change, but Politico has used data that is guaranteed to present the most negative possible picture, something the publication has had a history of doing when it comes to Democrats.

It's opinion masking as news.

The headline is misleading; Obama's overall poll numbers are still very high. They have dropped somewhat about the economy, and there, mostly along "partisan" lines. The story says as much, although not until midway through the 2nd page: The specific weaknesses in Obama’s standing with the public come in the context of general strength." The article winds up with "analysis" from the Heritage Foundation--a very conservative thinktank, and a Republican pollster.
