Very good report and especially good to hear another side of Iraq besides the war.

Further East, India and China are mining their underground water. Easy to see where this is going and the boffins are planning another green revolution, this one powered by GM. Not doubt it will work. Then we will have another Malthus-Parkinson correction. ie. Population expands to use up any increases in food production. The only way around this is to get population under control by making affordable contraception available to every woman in the world.
