The New Crusaders

The radical traditionalist Catholics, who reject the teachings of the modern papacy, may form America's largest group of anti-Semites

"The perpetual enemy of Christ is the Jewish nation," Brother Mary roared, explaining that the aim of the Jews is to "destroy all Christian nations." Mary blamed Jews for both world wars -- an opinion also mouthed by the drunken Mel Gibson -- and a coming world government. Professing from the pulpit a "great hatred" of Jews, Brother Mary declared that "Jews are the synagogue of Satan" -- a phrase that is also part of the official ideology of the neo-Nazi ... A rather long article, it is unfortunate that there are no direct quotes (even anonymous) from either the Vatican or the fringe groups referenced. However, if the article is true, it is unlikely such a fringe group would be interested in providing a quote. The Vatican is another story - it seems they would want to publicly distance themselves from this group and decry its alleged anti-semetic activiites.

this is a detailed and powerful report on what appears to be a significant and worrisome movement here in the US and elsewhere. This piece documents a great deal of recent history and current affairs in its report on the resurgence of old-time hate-based anti-Semitism (as opposed as the Israeli gentrified version that really only means disapproval of the actions of the State of Israel).

Any teaching of hate is not truly related to the teachings of Jesus Christ, who preached forgiveness, healing, compassion, and love for the poor. This is a sad picture of how deeply forces of darkness infiltrate God's word.

ANOTHER EXHAUSTIVE REPORT BY THE SOUTHERN POVERTY LAW CENTER, scary in its detail. The several hundred I have read are always well sourced and thorougly researched, even if references are not given - more of an overview than an article. Usually, the SPLC reports on beer belly pseudo-Christian/Nazi thug groups that beat and maim and kill people without lily-white skins. This is a group on "hate" scene reporting that is numbing to read about.

I didn't know about this strain of Catholicism. I'd have liked the disclaimer that most Catholics are not anti-Semites to have come at the front of the story rather than the back, and to be longer.

If I were Mel Gibson I'd sue for libel. Long on accusations, short on facts. As an American I believe in freedom of speech & fail to see where any crime has been committed, so what if conservative catholics don't like change & want to hear their ceremonies in Latin? And who cares about drunken rants? Where is the crime?
