Orwell captured it. He who controls the past controls the future; he who controls the present controls the past. This despicable classifying of secrets that would embarrass totalitarian leaders is alleged here in Russia. How does this play against Obama and Bush hiding torture and extraordinary renditions behind state secrecy laws and simultaneously failing to prosecute the criminals?

Our U.S. history schoolbooks are a whitewash.
