The author give a good overview of the current state of affairs. One section of the article gave pause: "Improving the quality of care for everyone by encouraging... (adoption of) the best, most effective courses of treatment...'Achieving this goal moves the government into the sensitive area of relations between individual patients and their doctors." EXACTLY the problem Betsy McCaughey highlighted at this beginning of this public discussion--and exactly what the French have avoided in developing their very excellent system.

It gives the reader a general idea of what is being discussed these days, and it enables the reader to form his own opinion.

I like the idea of healthcare reform a lot, and I really hope this reform will contain improvements for those not covered by the healthcare system until now.
