Boston Globe Workers Reject Deal On Pay Cuts - NYTimes.com

After a day of heavy voting, the guild said its members had rejected the package by a vote of 277 to 265 — meaning 542 of the guild’s 670 members had voted. The results were posted Monday evening on the union’s Web site.

The Globe and the Times Company quickly responded by setting the pay cut for guild members in motion. Full Story »

It's a solid piece from a reporter who works for one of the companies involved. Solid, but not remarkable job.

Unbelievable, the union thought that NYT was joking about the 23% pay cut – so the reject the offer in hopes of better deal than the sweet one that was offered to 'em. Did they forget that a shutdown was on the table? That they're only being asked to recoup half of the $20 million that the NYT has asked for to recompense a $85 million loss? I _must_ be missing something here.
