Two Colombian Generals Face Charges

Two Colombian generals, both of whom received training at the U.S. Army's "School of The Americas"(SOA) at Ft. Benning, Ga., have been accused by authorities there of crimes involving narcotics and collaborating with criminal paramilitary groups, according to a report in the June 15th issue of The Nation magazine. Two US agencies, SOA and AID, are seen to be in the support line for right wing Colombia paramilitaries and narcotrafficers who are killing small farmers to steal their land for growing palm oil for profits that can be used for laundering drug money. This is a well written excerpt from an article appearing June 15 in The Nation.

The SOA should be shuttered. The AID funds should be scrubbed. Leahy's amendment to Plan Colombia should be retained.
