The best parts of this story are superficial. Much is misleading. The bankruptcy claim, for example. The author never considers that a health care crisis might be at least part of the reason a person might not have enough money to pay the mortgage. Some state mandates are frills. I'll grant that, but high deductible plans are too often associated with putting off cost-effective preventive care until an emergency comes along. And there is no discussion of increasing reliance on primary care physicians, which is a proven way to improve care and decrease costs.
