a comprehensive story here of biofuel production in oregon, which exemplifies the difficulties in switching to alternative fuels. it captures how the varying costs, the economy in general and the learning curve all have impact on what may be likely to occur in any of these industries. what's not discussed is the effect on food production of many biofuels, corn in particular.

Fails to analyze how we got into this mess in the first place - answer: by listening to environmental and global warming nuts who can't do arithmetic.

The level of ignorance exemplified by the biofuels mess is typical of environmentalist solutions. The big environmental organizations are profoundly incompetent and self interested. Other shoes waiting to drop are windmills, solar power and the entire mythology of anthropomorphic global warming. Plenty of observers saw this coming before it even started. Unfortunately the Obama administration is as delusional as the environmentalists.
