High Court Asked to Block Chrysler Deal

The federal appeals court in New York approved the sale Friday, but gave objectors until Monday afternoon to try to get the Supreme Court to intervene. Chrysler wants to sell the bulk of its assets to a group led by Italy's Fiat as part of its plan to emerge from bankruptcy protection.

The emergency request goes first to Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who handles such matters from New York. She can act on her own or refer it to the entire court. Full Story »

As well as can be written considering the subject. Mom, Pie, and GM being sold isn't exactly a subject a journalist can "sink" his teeth in.

Hate to see it. Makes me mad. Wish it didn't have to happen. But, theres always a but, I don't hear alot of other people knocking down GM's door.

There is much more that needed to be said about the Court and how it works on emergency actions.

The Indiana State Police Pension Fund, the Indiana Teacher's Retirement Fund and the state's Major Moves Construction Fund deserve to have their collective butts kicked and I hope the Court does so. Otherwise the entire bankruptcy system is at risk.
