There was no mention of "terrorists" or "terrorism," just "violent extremists." There was the suggestion that Israeli settlements are illegitimate and the assertion that the Palestinians "have suffered in pursuit of a homeland." So-so report, but certainly worth reading. Given that there are 500,000 Jewish illegal settlers in the West Bank, Obama needs to make clear the occupation has to end. This point is muffled in this account.

Obama should move toward normal relations with Syria and Iran, and pressure Israel to end the occupation of the West Bank and the Golan Heights. Obama should pull all US forces out of Iraq withing the next 12 months.
