Challenge of Israeli settlements

Israel's Prime Minister designate, Benjamin Netanyahu, will not openly commit to a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. But the US insists it's the only way forward, and Hillary Clinton is visiting the region for the first time as secretary of state.

More and more Israelis have moved to the West Bank and East Jerusalem since 1967 when Israel captured and occupied the territory. This is illegal under international law. Palestinians say it makes peace here impossible. Full Story »

The piece shows both sides saying they are willing to compromise, but it those other people that are being unreasonable.

If the partition of India into 2 nations that became three shows us anything, it is that a geoghaphicly seperated nation is difficult if not impossible. We are dealing in very small nation states that produce many times more trouble than their size alone would indicate. We should not forget that the partition of palestine in 1948 included a palestinian homeland, which the Arabs promptly threw them out of.
