Deportations carried out in the middle of immigration cases

Agents have arrested people at Immigration Court in downtown L.A. and expelled them. Authorities say they're reinstating previous orders. Lawyers say the legal process is being flouted.

Fernando Arteaga appeared last week in Immigration Court as part of a lengthy battle to stay in the United States. But just before the hearing began, immigration officers removed him from the courtroom, arrested him and took him into custody. Full Story »

One more instance were hold over and conversions of appointees to career positions have undermined the rule of law before the new administration is able to find out all that is going on.

At this point, after recieving zero republican votes on important matters, I believe Pres. Obama should follow the mantra of the Dixie Chicks. "I'm not ready to play nice". It uses illustrations and interviews - though not with a representative of INS - to illustrate a point. However, no one should be surprised that INS is not an agency known for abiding by legal processes. The kind of behavior noted here is just one more example of an agency operating by its own rules and legal interpretations, fueled by anti immigrant sentiment.

Are they trying to challenge the new administration? Or are they just blundering along as usual?
