Krugman's Op-Ed reads more like an installment from an investigative journalist. The story is essentially the rest of the story. The story isn't cynical, in its approach, only it's observation - that the American public is routinely abused by certain well-connected / well-heeled / well-positioned groups of the American private sector. They are masters of illusion and have a ground force that on a pro capite basis, far out-numbers Congress. Krugman further alleges in this Op-Ed that this game is afoot and the industry appears to be positioned to make a fool of the President and his supporters for health care reform. Does the health care industry consider a government insurance option as a huge threat to profits and shareholder dividends. Indeed and they have purchased the lobbying power of the faltering and fractionated GOP to do their heavy lifting.

One has to assume the facts. And if they are correct, then yes, it does pose a dilemma for the administration. What isn't indicated is whether there are any groups willing and able to mount a counter-campaign. Or is this piece designed to encourage such a move?

Why is anyone surprised at this turn of events?
