The Chamber is undoubtedly the most effective business organization in the country, but lately it has found itself stumbling. Pretty hard hitting for a piece in Time magazine, which can be middle-of-the-road on these issues. Quotes, factual evidence and some key anecdotes give a clear picture of the chamber's aggression in recent months.

A sharper, and ultimately more insightful look at the Chamber of Commerce than offered by the linked NYTimes piece. Stier gives the specific example of corporate transparency as another issue where the Chamber has defended the short term interests of its membership over the interests of the American public.
