While Zinn makes some good arguments, I think they would be better with more current examples. He's talking about a society like Norway or Sweden--both of which score high in recent surveys of national happiness, livability, and economic stability. And I guess his book editors must be better than those at the Progressive, because the writing here is way less polished than what I've read in his books.

Howard Zinn knows and has written the history of the people in this country, and here advocates for them to make the politicians move toward a path of change that the people want. Well written and framed.

Democracy means the people are supposed to be listened to. We need to restore democracy. Publicly financed elections would reduce the political voice of corporations and the very wealthy.
