Voters give officials power. Failure to exercise that power for the people enables tyranny. Pelosi is accused of failing to use the powers of the office she was sworn into. There is not much discussion of why she might have chosen that path.

A pro-war pro-torture press owned by the right, and super expensive election cycles owned by the rich should get some attention. Publicly financed elections could help.
