It was Yoo's immoral guidance that aided the United States in sanctioning the torture practice known as waterboarding -- used in the Spanish Inquisition, by despots such as Pol Pot and by Chinese Communists in the Korean War to obtain false confessions from Americans -- as well as slamming detainees into walls, part of a harsh interrogation regime that has been linked to the deaths of at least a dozen U.S, detainees and possibly more. Will Bunch expresses his ethical concerns about a newspaper providing a paid bully pulpit to a war criminal, along with a drift toward hiring other highly partisan right wing voices.

Control of the media by the right wing rich endangers the idea of an informed democracy.

Let's censor and fire people we don't agree with politically. Let's throw him in jail for writing a legal memo. The people advocating this never lifted a finger to prevent huge human rights violations in Cambodia, Russia, Cuba and plenty of other places.
