Excellent quick read, setting out clearly why the US is as much the problem in Central Asia as it is part of the solution. The Afghani and Pakistani leaders are meeting in Tehran soon, to learn more from Iran's successful handling of terrorist problesm. The article does not mention that the terrorism problems of Iran are fomented by the US and Israel.

The US cannot engage in sustained warfare in a Muslim country. The cost is prohibitive, and the insurgencies are only increased by the application of American military power. The US is too easily shown to be the supporter of Israeli oppression of the Palestinians and therefor as the enemy of Islam.
