Political odd-fellows on school reform

(Blog Post) It might be the only subject that could draw all of them to a White House meeting, but the oddest of political bedfellows met with President Obama today on education reform.

Civil rights firebrand the Rev. Al Sharpton, New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, and former GOP House Speaker Newt Gingrich (a sometime Obama critic) huddled with the president. Full Story »

Strange story. No data or rationales, just politicos posturing that they are in favor of change. Arguments for schools that create better workers, but no argument for schools the create better citizens. Black advocacy for charter schools when they have a reputation of enhancing segregation. The only attendee being consistent was Gingrich who wants to privatize everything.

Charter schools are not a panacea.
