Seniors skeptical of health overhaul

For seniors opposed to an overhaul, much of the fear stems from well-publicized news reports of massive Medicare cuts over a decade.

The House bill calls for nearly $500 billion in spending cuts that are designed to keep Medicare solvent longer by reducing fraud, waste and excessive spending.

Half the cuts would be to what experts call excessive payments to home-health, skilled-nursing and other institutional health providers. Full Story »

Song makes the story about the skepticism. In the process, both good and questionable sources are brought in to speak on both sides of the question. Though some interesting opinions and statistics are presented, the facts of the bill are left quite muzzy.

Very well written and with all sides of controversy covered.

I don't feel the media have researched the subject of seniors and the health care bill in sufficient depth. We are not really hearing from the millions of seniors who are pleased with their current services and who presume they will continue or improve through adoption of the currently proposed legislation.
