Not a terribly well written article, but relevant in that it gives an idea of how stimulus money for education will be distributed among the states.
The irony is that even that money is too little and too late for Garfield, where 90 percent of children are poor. More »
A key point of the article: while the money is welcome, it won't solve the long-term financial problems in these public school districts.
I felt this was a good news article that told not only the dollar amounts of the stimulus money, but how it would be used in different school districts. That Oakland was planning on spending their money on training rather than teachers will be controversial, and was a surprise to me(if true). I would like to know the source of that fact. I would have appreciated a link to the source of the figures at the end of the piece.
Yes, it goes in depth about the stimulus money being given to California schools. I really liked how it went in depth and used examples of schools and what they are going to use their money for.
