More Atheists Shout It From the Rooftops
Polls show that the ranks of atheists are growing. The American Religious Identification Survey, a major study released last month, found that those who claimed “no religion” were the only demographic group that grew in all 50 states in the last 18 years.

So many people I know go to church primarily for the social interaction and freely admit it. It's human nature to become accustomed to ritual and to behave in ways that are "normal" within the social group. The problem for me arose when I was not permitted to ask, to inquire or to think for myself within my church. This story reflects the reality of the secular humanists I know. Good people who don't want to force their beliefs on anyone, but don't feel obliged to pretend to believe in something just because the majority says they should.
