Fair narrative of Obama's slight alteration of his assessment of the Armenian disaster during World War I. Obama sees it as in the best interests of the US to employ a different characterization of the matter.

Obama is right, and this in no way suggests the calamity was any lesser than it was. We should remember Turkey very nearly ceased to exist in the wake of the collapse of the Ottoman Empire.
