It's tough during a war, I think philosophically and emotionally, to be negative, to separate any negativity about the policy from the soldiers who are fighting the war. That's very difficult thing. This story is only relevant if you watch TV news and wonder why it is so poor. The self-satisfied and inherently arrogant elitist attitude on display by the interviewee is the not-so-surprising answer. Glib, facile answers to non-hardball questions that beg for incisive--and maybe even interesting!--answers, are drowned in justifications that reveal why he was promoted and, coincidentally, why there will be no change in content to network news in the foreseeable future, only more advertiser-military-government "safe" stories. I wouldn't go so far as to blame the interviewer though it would be nice to know to what restraints, if any, he had to adhere.
